SkyWest Airlines (OO, St. George Municipal) has terminated its Modesto, CA services thereby leaving the central Californian town without any scheduled passenger services. The airline had operated a triple daily service to San Francisco on-board an E120 until June 4.
In a statement, the United Express partner said the route had been underperforming for some time with the final straw coming in January when the US Federal Aviation Administration enacted new laws entitling pilots to at least 10 hours of rest between shifts, up from the previous 8. The associated increase in costs had thereby rendered the route unviable, it said.
"This was a difficult decision to make and we will continue to evaluate opportunities to return to Modesto in the future," the airline said in a statement.
