Air Uganda (Entebbe) has had its Air Operators Certificate suspended by the Ugandan Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) sources in Entebbe have reported. On Wednesday, June 18, the UCAA revoked the licences of all Ugandan operators plying international routes of which Air Uganda is the most affected.
The UCAA's unprecidented move comes after an International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) audit revealed glaring anomalies in the regulator's control procedures and adherence to international norms.
As it stands the airline has grounded its entire fleet of three CRJ200s and one MD-87 at Entebbe while it undergoes recertification.
Air Uganda has yet to issue an official comment.
