FlySafair (FA, Johannesburg O.R. Tambo) has set a new date for the relaunch of its operations. According to its website, the Safair (FA, Johannesburg O.R. Tambo) subsidiary will offer multiple daily flights from Cape Town International to Port Elizabeth as well as to Johannesburg O.R. Tambo using a fleet of two B737-400s.

Scheduled for October 16, the new launch date falls almost a year after its previous maiden flight - set for October 17, 2013 - was cancelled when Comair (South Africa) (CAW, Johannesburg O.R. Tambo) and SkyWise (Johannesburg O.R. Tambo) successfully argued in a Pretoria high court that FlySafair's then shareholding structure did not conform to South African regulatory requirements concerning foreign ownership.

Since then, the carrier has restructured its ownership by excluding former shareholders while choosing a South African-registered holding company as another shareholder. It has also entered into a Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) deal with its employees.

The start-up successfully applied for its Air Services Licence from the South African authorities in April of this year.
