Aer Lingus (EI, Dublin International) has deferred an announcement concerning a possible order for the A350 from Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) in light of the recent unveiling of the A330neo airline CEO, Christoph Mueller, has said.

In an interview with the Irish Independent newspaper, Mueller said his airline will now spend "three or four months" studying the upgraded A330 variant before making a decision.

In February this year, Mueller said his airline would likely settle for a mixture of A350-900s and what was then reported as A330-900 Regionals.

Currently, the Irish carrier's widebody fleet consists of three A330-200s and four A330-300s used primarily on flights to Boston, Chicago O'Hare, Faro, New York JFK, Orlando International, Chicago O'Hare, Malaga and San Francisco. Plans are afoot to increase Aer Lingus' US operations to include Dallas/Fort Worth and Miami International later next year.
