Cathay Pacific (CX, Hong Kong International) has announced its final scheduled long-haul B747-400 flight will depart San Francisco for Hong Kong International on August 31. The Hong Kong-based carrier still has nine of the type in operational service on flights to China, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Japan, the United States, Singapore, Taiwan, and South Africa.

The nine remaining quadjets will be replaced by Cathay's incoming fleet of B777-300(ER)s and A350-1000s and now only be used for regional services in Asia from September onwards.
