BQB Líneas Aéreas (Punta del Este) is faced with additional operational obstacles after the International Air Transport Association (IATA) called on all travel-agencies to suspend all sales of the airline's tickets following its failure to pay its annual subscriptions to the organization.

The Uruguayan carrier claimed in a recent report that endorsements owed to other carriers as well as market demand had forced it to delay its payments to the body.

Talks between the two parties were due to have been held last week though their outcome is currently unknown.

BQB has been undergoing restructuring involving the downsizing of its workforce and the return of its single A319-100.
