Air Berlin (1991) (Berlin Tegel) has rejected reports in the German media that it is planning to terminate its leasing agreements with TUI fly (Germany) (X3, Hannover) as part of its restructuring plans. Presently, Air Berlin wet-leases five B737-700s and nine B737-800s from the carrier.

Late last month, Air Berlin outlined the initial stages of its planned restructuring programme aimed at returning the loss-making carrier to profitability over the next three years.

Among the steps taken are the streamlining and restructuring of the Air Operator Certificates it uses (AOCs) namely: Belair Airlines (Zurich), Niki (Austria) (Vienna), LGW - Luftfahrtgesellschaft Walter (Dortmund), and TUIfly.
