Frontier Airlines (F9, Denver International) has announced it will develop Miami International and Philadelphia International into its next two bases beginning in December this year. The revitalized ULCC, fresh from its acquisition from Republic Airlines (Indianapolis International) by Phoenix-based investment firm, Indigo Partners LLC, will begin direct flights from Miami to Denver International, Philadelphia, New York La Guardia and Chicago O'Hare beginning December 20 with a total of 38 weekly flights.

No low-cost domestic airline has operated out of Miami since 2012, when AirTran Airways (Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson) ceased its daily service to and from Baltimore International.

In terms of its Philadelphia base, Frontier will offer flights to Miami, Orlando International and Tampa International beginning December with flights to Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson, Charlotte International, and Chicago set to come online next spring.

Frontier hasn't flown scheduled service from Philadelphia since January 2013, soon after it began flights from Trenton, NJ, with the exception of leisure flights to Cancún and Punta Cana in cooperation with Apple Vacations.
