Primera Air Nordic (Riga) commenced scheduled operations on Friday, October 10, using a sole aircraft, a B737-800, YL-PSH (msn 34247), sourced from parent Primera Air Scandinavia (Billund). The carrier will offer charter flights to the Scandinavian market during the upcoming Winter 2014/15 season.

Airline CEO, Hrafn Thorgeirsson, said earlier this year that a Latvian AOC would allow the Danish carrier to be more flexible, especially in terms of labour regulations and unionisation. As a result, he said, the airline will be able to more effectively compete with larger carriers in the increasingly tight Northern European aviation market.
