Ryanair (FR, Dublin International) Chief Marketing Officer, Kenny Jacobs, has confirmed that the budget carrier is in talks with Schiphol Group, the operator of Amsterdam Schiphol airport, over the possible launch of operations there in late 2015.

Jacobs told the Financieele Dagblad in an interview that Ryanair's recent shift towards business travellers and main airports had lead to the decision to enter the Amsterdam Schiphol market.

"Last year we requested slots but we could not make any capacity available. We have not asked for slots this year because we don’t have any aircraft but next year that will be different. We hope to be able to start in winter 2015," he said.

Currently, Ryanair's Dutch operations are restricted to Groningen and two bases at Eindhoven and Maastricht.

Rival easyJet (London Luton) has already announced it will boost its existing Amsterdam Schipol operations with three A320-200s to be based out of the airport from late March 2015.
