Norwegian (Oslo Gardermoen) CEO Bjørn Kjos says his airline will transition its jet fleet to all-B737-800s with effect from 2015. Announcing a subdued net profit of NOK373.8million (USD57.2million) for the third quarter, Kjos said:

“Looking into 2015, we will see a year of consolidation and lower growth. Next year, our fleet of short-haul aircraft will consist exclusively of Boeing 737-800s as older Boeing B737-300s will be phased out.”

The budget carrier currently operates five B737-300s and four B737-300 WIN.s on its domestic Norwegian as well as European operations.

It is to be recalled that the carrier has 100 A320neo firm orders together with 50 options with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) with delivery scheduled from 2016. It also has firm orders for 100 B737 MAX 8s along with 100 options from Boeing (BOE, Washington National) with delivery slated to start in 2017.
