Biman Bangladesh Airlines (BG, Dhaka) will resume dedicated domestic flights this December using a pair of Dash 8-400s sourced from Egypt's Smart Aviation (SME, Cairo International). Bangladeshi press reports state the turboprops, SU-SMH (cn 4367) and SU-SMI (cn 4368), have been secured on a 5-year dry-lease contract.

Biman, which last operated scheduled domestic flights in 2012, is expected to reopen services connecting Barisal, Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Jessore, Rajshahi, Saidpur, and Sylhet some of which it last served in 2005.

In Biman's absence, domestic slack has been taken up by the likes of US-Bangla Airlines (BS, Dhaka), NovoAir (VQ, Dhaka), Regent Airways (Dhaka), and United Airways (Dhaka).
