Thai VietJetAir (VZ, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi) is set to secure its Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) from the Thai Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) next week, paving the way for it to commence scheduled services in December.

The Bangkok Post reports the start-up, a joint venture between VietJetAir (VJ, Hanoi Noi Bai International) and the parent firm of Kan Air (KND, Chiang Mai), Kannithi Aviation, successfully conducted a test flight between Bangkok Suvarnabhumi and Chiang Mai on October 25 using its sole aircraft, an A320-200.

According to Somphong Sooksanguan, president of Kannithi Aviation, Thai VietJetAir will operate a series of charter flights from the Thai capital to Vietnam and India from November 15 ahead of its planned launched a month later with scheduled flights from Bangkok to Chiang Mai and Phuket.
