Med-View Airline (Kano) has acquired two B737-400s to aid in its regional West African expansion plans. The airline currently operates a pair of ex-Olympic Airlines B737-400s and an ex-Georgian Airways B737-500.

Airline managing director and CEO, Alhaji Muneer Bankole, told the Nigerian press last week that the aircraft are currently in Bangkok Suvarnabhumi undergoing pre-delivery maintenance checks following which they will be ferried to Nigeria.

Having recently commenced regional operations to Accra after an initial period plying only domestic routes, Med-View plans to use the jets to serve Dakar Yoff-Léopold Sédar Senghor International, Abidjan, and Libreville Leon M'Ba. It also has plans to offer scheduled services to Dubai International, Singapore Changi, and Tel Aviv Ben Gurion having recently wet-leased a B767-300(ER) from euroAtlantic Airways (YU, Lisbon).

To sustain its ambitious growth plans, Bankole says Med-View management is considering an IPO on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) at some point in the near future. He did not, however, specify timeframes.
