SkyWest Airlines (OO, Salt Lake City) will transition to an all-jet fleet as part of the carrier's strategy to improve its overall efficiency and long-term profitability. In a statement, the Utah-based carrier said it will phase out its fleet of forty-three E120s in summer 2015.

"The EMB-120 fleet retirement comes, in part, in response to increased costs and additional challenges associated with new FAR117 flight and duty rules, implemented in January 2014," it said.

In the same vain, its ExpressJet Airlines (Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson) subsidiary has reached an agreement with United Airlines (UA, Chicago O'Hare) to reduce their existing 50-seat E145 contract from November 2020 to December 2017. The reduction in the ERJ-145 operations is expected to help ExpressJet improve its overall operational reliability and financial results.

As previously reported, Trans States Airlines (St. Louis Lambert International) will start operating thirty-six ERJ-145s, formerly with ExpressJet, for United Airlines beginning in 2015.
