Ukraine International Airlines (PS, Kyiv Boryspil) says it will challenge a recent Kiev court decision garnishing its account with the country's Finance and Credit Bank and banning it from opening new current accounts.

On November 18, the court ruled in favour of the State Aviation Service of Ukraine which sought to recover UAH5.375 million (USD0.358million) in unpaid air ticket remittance tax.

The plaintiff, according to Interfax, claimed the airline's continued delays in paying its dues was "hampering its ability to maintain the country's participation in international aviation organizations."

As the country's economy continues to falter on the back of a civil war in the country's eastern provinces, Ukraine Int'l Airlines has asked the Ukrainian government to avail it a USD100million stabilization loan to help offset losses. Kiev, however, last week responded stating it would not be able to assist the carrier just yet as its main priority, for the moment, is stabilizing the economy as a whole.
