Gotlandsflyg (Visby) along with Wizz Air (W6, Budapest) and Ryanair (FR, Dublin International) have all switched their respective Gothenburg City operations to Gothenburg Landvetter effective immediately.

Airport operator Cityflygplatsen i Göteborg AB said that only Sparrow Aviation (Stockholm Arlanda) would be allowed to maintain operations there for the foreseeable future.

"At the moment there are flight restrictions on certain heavier air traffic at Göteborg City Airport. These restrictions concerns the following airlines and their passengers; Ryanair, Wizz Air and Gotlandsflyg," it said. "Unfortunately, we have no exact forecast of when the airport can return to normal processes."

Swedish media reports claim recent taxiway load-bearing tests showed glaring inconsistencies with previous values. In the interests of safety, local authorities have now banned heavier aircraft such as the B737-800 and the A320-200 from using the airfield until the problem has been rectified.
