Air Canada rouge (RV, Toronto Pearson) will begin its first domestic Canadian operations when it assumes several routes, currently operated by parent Air Canada (AC, Montréal Trudeau), beginning in summer next year.

In a statement, Air Canada said high volumes of leisure traffic had pushed it to switch its Toronto Pearson to Kelowna, and Toronto to Sydney, NS routes to its budget subsidiary. In addition, rouge will also operate a new seasonal Calgary to Halifax service. All flights are on-board an A319-100.

Air Canada has also rolled back a previous decision to switch its Vancouver International to New York operations from New York Newark to New York JFK effective May 2015.
