Citywing (Isle of Man) could resume flights to Blackpool in March this year after the airport reopened to traffic late last month. UK media reports state Squires Gate Airport Operations – a firm set up by parent organisation and airport owner Balfour Beatty - has assumed control of the airfield with the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) reinstating its operator's licence albeit only for light and general aviation.

It is hoped the reopening will lure back Bond Offshore Helicopters (Aberdeen Dyce) which operates services to oil and gas rigs in the Irish Sea.

Blackpool suspended commercial operations in October last year after it was unable to repay over GBP32million (USD49 million) in debts owed largely to other Balfour Beatty companies.
