Primera Air Scandinavia (Billund) has been granted a foreign air carrier permit by the US Department of Transportation (DOT). The DOT said in a statement that the Danish carrier had been granted permission to conduct foreign scheduled and charter air transportation of persons, property, and mail "from any point or points behind any Member State of the European Union via any point or points in any Member State and via intermediate points to any point or points in the United States and beyond."

It is to be recalled that in October last year, the DOT granted the carrier route exemption to operate flights between the European Union and the United States. It subsequently used the dispensation when it launched seasonal Reykjavik Keflavik to New York JFK flights in November.
