Indonesia AirAsia X (IDX, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) has set a revised launch date of January 30 with its maiden service tentatively scheduled to be a A330-300 Denpasar to Taipei Taoyuan service, to be operated up to four times weekly.

The AirAsia X (D7, Kuala Lumpur International) subsidiary secured its Air Operators Certificate (AOC) from Indonesia's Directorate General of Civil Aviation and Transport ministry in September last year with plans to offer a 5x weekly Denpasar to Melbourne Tullamarine service in late December.

While AirAsia (AK, Kuala Lumpur International) was not available to comment on the delay, it is believed Indonesian regulatory red-tape has played a role. It is unlikely the crash of Indonesia AirAsia (QZ, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) flight QZ8501 in late December has played any part in the delay given that the set back occurred before the disaster happened on December 28.
