airBaltic (BT, Riga) will begin weekly seasonal services from Frankfurt International and Dortmund to Heringsdorf, situated on the island of Usedom in the Baltic Sea, beginning in May this year. The flights are offered in conjunction with the Latvian carrier's partner, ArGe Group.

“The opening of these new routes linking Frankfurt and Dortmund with Usedom Island is an important occasion for airBaltic, as it paves the way for our expansion into the Baltic Sea region," Air Baltic's Chief Commercial Officer, Christophe Viatte, said.

Usedom, considered to be the sunniest island in the Baltic Sea, is famous for Peenemünde, the testing ground for Wernher von Braun's infamous V-2 rockets developed during World War 2.
