Turkish Airlines (TK, Istanbul Airport) is studying the possibility of leasing two A380-800 from Malaysia Airlines (MH, Kuala Lumpur International) well placed company sources have told Bloomberg business news. According to the report, Turkish Airlines' senior management will, in the coming days, approve whether or not to proceed with formal talks with the Malaysians.

A similar deal was announced early last year involving the lease of four A380s from an undisclosed carrier only for the contract to fall through at the last moment. Turkish had planned to use the double-decker quadjets on services to China where slot availability is limited.

In January this year, the Turkish carrier was said to be in talks with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) over a possible order for at least ten A380s though neither Airbus nor airline management confirmed the Reuters report.
