Air Vanuatu (NF, Port Vila) and other carriers serving the Ni-Vanuatu capital, Port Vila, have resumed limited flights there following the passing of Tropical Cyclone Pam. The airline said in a statement that effective March 16, it will be providing special back-to-back flights to Sydney Kingsford Smith and Brisbane International in Australia. The flights will carry aid supplies and move returning tourists from Vanuatu.

Air Vanuatu's ATR72-500s are expected back from Nouméa La Tontouta ahead of the resumption of domestic flights this week. Air New Zealand (NZ, Auckland International) is also expected to resume flights.

The cyclone caused significant damage to the airfield's runway, terminal and control tower during its transit and as a result, only limited facilities are currently available.
