Northeast Shuttles (Agartala) will commence scheduled services within the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh next month with the carrier having secured the greenlight from the Indian Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Airport Authority of India (AAI).

Once all terms and conditions are finalized, Northeast will connect Agra, Allahabad and Varanasi initially with scope to expand operations to include Lucknow, the proposed airport at Meerut, Moradabad, Gorakhpur, Chitrakoot and Sonebhadra.

The flights, which will operate on a combination of Cessna (single turboprop) Grand Caravan 208B and Do228 machinery, are subsidized by the state government to the tune of 20%.
