MODERN Logistics (WD, São Paulo Viracopos) has set a May date for the delivery of its maiden aircraft, PP-YBA (msn 24683), an ex-Orenair B737-400 currently being converted into a B737-400(F) by PEMCO World Air Services at the COOPESA facility at San José Juan Santamaría.

Secured on a long-term dry-lease agreement with an unidentified lessor, the jet will be joined by a further two later in the year. Thereafter, in 2016, Modern Logistics will take delivery of six more B737 freighters along with a maiden pair of ATR 72-200(F)/-500(F)/-600Fs. Overall, the start-up plans to operate a fleet of thirty-six aircraft come 2020.

With BRR75 million (USD30 million) worth of private equity investment from Rio de Janeiro-based DXA Investments to aid in the launch of operations, the start-up plans to offer comprehensive end-to-end coverage of the Brazilian logistics market targeting the electronics, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and auto-part sectors.
