China Eastern Airlines (MU, Shanghai Hongqiao) will begin longhaul flights out of the eastern Chinese port city of Ningbo later this month. The flights, Ningbo's first such service, will begin with charter flights to Rome Fiumicino on May 28 followed by Frankfurt International on June 6.

Should there be adequate demand, both routes will graduate to a scheduled service at some point this year.

According to the ch-aviation airport database, Ningbo's only international connections at present are to destinations in Thailand, South Korea, Vietnam, and Japan.
