Ukraine International Airlines (PS, Kyiv Boryspil) has suspended its Kyiv Boryspil-Tashkent International service with effect from Thursday, May 28 after neither Ukraine nor Uzbekistan were able to reach a settlement concerning the allocation of summer traffic rights. Uzbekistan Airways (HY, Tashkent International) already suspended its own service to the Ukrainian capital on May 12.

Ukraine's Avianews says the impasse was caused by UIA's insistence that the number of flights to Tashkent be increased to at least three or four weekly flights to help cover a surge in demand.

A similar suspension in flights between April and July of last year was resolved when Uzbek and Ukrainian authorities agreed to allow each other's airlines to operate the route 2x weekly.
