Simrik Airlines (Kathmandu) and Tara Air (Kathmandu) have announced plans to resume services to Khanidanda Airport in Nepal's eastern Khotang District. The airfield has been closed for the past six months to allow for the resurfacing of the 590x20m runway.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has labelled the NPR70.24 million (USD0.69 million) project as urgent given the region's proneness to being cut off from the rest of the country during the monsoon season.
