FedEx Express (FX, Memphis International) is to acquire one hundred new B767-300Fs from Boeing (BOE, Washington National) constituting fifty firm orders with options for an additional fifty of the same type. Deliveries of the fifty firm order jets is scheduled to begin in 2018 and run through to 2023.

“Acquiring additional 767F aircraft is a continuation of our very successful air fleet modernization program and will enable us to reduce structural costs, improve our fuel efficiency and enhance the reliability of our global network,” David J. Bronczek, president and chief executive officer of FedEx Express, said.

Overall, the logistics specialist's Boeing B767 freighter backlog now amounts to 106 firm orders.

Last month, FedEx announced it had permanently retired fifteen aircraft - seven MD-11(F)s, three A300-600(F)s, four A310-300(F)s, and one DC-10-10(F) - as part of its fleet capacity rationalization and modernization drive. A further twenty-three aircraft are expected to be retired in due course as well.
