El Al Israel Airlines (LY, Tel Aviv Ben Gurion) says it has settled on the B787 from Boeing (BOE, Washington National) to replace its widebody fleet.

In a filing to the Tel Aviv stock market yesterday, the Israeli national carrier said it plans to acquire, via a combination of purchase and leasing, fifteen new B787s over the next five years with options for an additional thirteen airframes.

Broken down, El Al said it would replace its seven B767-300(ER)s with B787-8s and its six B747-400s with B787-9s.

Deliveries are scheduled to run from 2017 through to 2020.
