Skyward Express (OW, Nairobi Wilson) has secured KES2.4 billion (USD23.2 million) in loans from local Kenyan banks for the lease of three Dash 8-300s. The aircraft are to be used to expand the airline's business beyond charters and into the scheduled services sector.

The first of the Bombardier Aerospace (BBA, Montréal Trudeau) turboprops - 5Y-SMK (cn 407) - has already been deployed on Skyward's scheduled services from its Nairobi Wilson hub to Eldoret, Wajir, Mandera, and Lodwar. Flights to Mombasa and Kisumu will launch later next month.

The Kenyan ACMI/charter specialist also operates a Fokker 100 (leased to South Sudan's Kush Air (Juba)) and seven Fokker 50s (one of which is leased to Somalia's Haajara Airlines (Mogadishu)).
