Allegiant Air (G4, Las Vegas Harry Reid) has announced plans to retire its fleet of five B757-200s by the beginning of 2017. In a statement, the budget carrier said instead of sending the aircraft in for costly D Checks, the fleet would be withdrawn beginning with two aircraft this year followed by others in 2016.

The type's retirement will coincide with Allegiant's decision to leave the Hawaiian market in early September next year. Acquired from Thomson Airways (London Luton) in March 2010, the B757s are used exclusively on flights from Los Angeles International and Las Vegas Harry Reid to Honolulu.

The move will leave the LCC with a fleet of twenty-seven A319-100s, sixteen A320-200s, forty-six MD-83s, and six MD-88s.
