Virgin Atlantic (VS, London Heathrow) has established a new subsidiary to handle its longhaul Caribbean operations. The carrier said in a statement that Virgin Atlantic International (VGI, London Heathrow) (VAI) would commence operations next month having now secured its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
VAI will wet-lease its aircraft - a pair of A330-300s - to its parent for flights from its London Gatwick base to Antigua, Bridgetown, Grenada, Havana International, Montego Bay, St. Lucia Hewanorra, and Tobago.
