Interjet (AIJ, Toluca) is set to increase its coverage of the United States after the US Department of Transportation (DOT) recently granted the LCC three international route allocations previously reserved for the now defunct Mexicana (1921) (México City International).

With the ruling, Interjet is now able to operate Cancún-Los Angeles; Cancun-New York; and Mexico City-Dallas/Fort Worth though it would have to relinquish the newly allocated routes in the event Mexicana does resume operations. That, however, is unlikely given the company is currently in the process of being liquidated.

The LCC's US network operations currently entail: México City and Monterrey Mariano Escobedo to Houston Intercontinental; Monterrey and Toluca to Las Vegas Harry Reid; Cancún and México City to Miami; México City to New York JFK; and Guadalajara, México City, Monterrey and Toluca to San Antonio.
