Lufthansa (LH, Frankfurt International) has rejected a report in Croatia's Večernji list newspaper which claimed the German carrier was one of three European carriers vying for a stake in Croatia Airlines (OU, Zagreb Franjo Tuđman).

A Lufthansa spokesman said in a statement last week that his firm had "no interest" in becoming a part of Croatia Airlines while labelling the reports as "untrue."

Quoting government sources, the report had claimed Lufthansa, along with Aegean Airlines (A3, Athens) and Turkish Airlines (TK, Istanbul Airport), were to hold separate talks with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the World Bank unit tasked by the Croatian government to find a suitable partner for Croatia Airlines, ahead of a 2016 decision on whether or not to proceed with privatization.
