VLM (1992) (Antwerp) says it has entered into a sales/lease-back agreement with Miami-based lessor Jetstream Aviation Capital involving an unspecified number of the Belgian carrier's fleet of eleven Fokker 50s.

Talks between the two sides began back in April this year and were finalized only recently VLM said. While the terms of the deal were not disclosed, VLM confirmed that funding realized through the agreement will allow it "to start a number of new routes and continue to develop existing and potential commercial partnerships."

The move mirrors that made by former parent CityJet (WX, Dublin International) which elected to enter a sales/lease-back agreement with UK-based Falko Regional Aircraft for eight of its ARJ-85s earlier this year.

VLM operates its Fokker Aircraft (Woensdrecht) fleet on scheduled flights across Europe as well as on ACMI/charter flights for third parties.
