Vanilla Air (Tokyo Narita) is considering opening up its second base at Osaka Kansai ahead of the launch of flights to the Taiwanese capital Taipei Taoyuan during the upcoming summer season. The Sankei news agency says the route will be the ANA - All Nippon Airways (NH, Tokyo Haneda) subsidiary's first out of an airport other than Tokyo Narita, its primary hub.

According to the ch-aviation airport database, other LCCs that currently use Kansai as a base airport include Jetstar Japan (GK, Tokyo Narita), Peach Aviation (MM, Osaka Kansai), and Spring Airlines (9C, Shanghai Hongqiao).

Founded in 2013, Vanilla Air offers budget flights to Amami, Hong Kong International, Kaohsiung, Okinawa Naha, Sapporo Chitose, and Taipei Taoyuan using a fleet of eight A320-200 (sl)s.
