Air Odisha (Bhubaneshwar) is set to inaugurate scheduled services to Jeypore, in eastern India marking the town's first such flights since Vayudoot (Delhi Safdarjung) pulled out in the late 1980s.

Daily return flights to Bhubaneshwar are slated to launch later this year using the carrier's fleet of Cessna (single turboprop) Grand Caravan 208Bs. Air Odisha says it is still awaiting security clearance as well as the nod from the airport's operator to commence flights.

The Odisha government has sought technical and financial help from the Airport Authority of India (AAI) to develop the airstrip into a commercial airport. The airfield is in close proximity to the National Aluminium Company (Nalco) bauxite refinery and the aircraft designing unit of Hindustan Aeronautics (Bengaluru HAL) Ltd.

For its part, Air Odisha also serves Jaisalmer, Rourkela, Ranchi, and Raipur.
