Niki (Austria) (Vienna) will operate an A319-100 and A321-200s on behalf of Finnair (AY, Helsinki Vantaa) Austria's Aero International magazine has reported.

The Air Berlin (1991) (Berlin Tegel) subsidiary will initially deploy an A319 into service for Finnair on flights from Helsinki Vantaa to Vienna and Berlin Tegel between February 1 and March 26. Thereafter, effective May 1, Niki will deploy two A321-200s onto Finnair flights from Helsinki to Vienna, Düsseldorf as well as on leisure routes such as Malaga.

The latter contract is expected to last one year and is an interim measure until the arrival of four A321-200s, on lease from BOC Aviation, arrive during the first half of 2017.

The A321s will allow Finnair to increase capacity on its regional European routes which are currently operated using ATR72-500s, E170s and E190s sourced from its NoRRA Nordic Regional Airlines (N7, Helsinki Vantaa) subsidiary.
