Cathay Pacific (CX, Hong Kong International) is reportedly planning to rebrand its Dragonair (Hong Kong International) subsidiary as Cathay Dragon (Hong Kong International) company sources have informed the South China Morning Post. According to the report, the move is aimed at strengthening Dragonair's association with its parent carrier. A formal announcement could be made in the coming weeks, the sources said.

Founded in 1985, Dragonair was Cathay Pacific's only local competitor until its takeover in 1990. Since then, Dragonair has specialized in regional flying operating a fleet of fifteen A320-200s, eight A321-200s, and eighteen A330-300s on flights to China, Southeast Asia, and India.
