Kan Air (KND, Chiang Mai) has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with an undisclosed European lessor involving two ATR72-600s. Airline president Somphong Sooksanguan told the Bangkok Post that the aircraft, which are on eight-year leases, are scheduled to be delivered during the current half of the year with the first due in April.

The turboprops will allow the Thai domestic operator to resume flights from Bangkok Don Mueang to Mae Sot and Phrae, and from Utapao to Udon Thani, Hat Yai, Krabi and Phuket, he said.

At present, Kan Air operates a single ATR72-500 and a Cessna (single turboprop) Grand Caravan 208B on flights from Chiang Mai to Hua Hin, Ubon Ratchathani, Utapao, and Khon Kaen.
