Malaysia Airlines (MH, Kuala Lumpur International) has once more reactivated one of its stored B747-400s to ply its flagship Kuala Lumpur International-London Heathrow route while its fleet of six A380-800s undergoes heavy maintenance.

9M-MPP (msn 29900) is currently undergoing a repaint into the carrier's 1970s livery ahead of its entry into service early in the next quarter. Malaysia Airlines estimates that an average of one A380 will be out of commission for the remainder of 2016.

Though Malaysia Airlines last used the B747-400 on dedicated scheduled commercial flights back in 2012, it has used 9M-MPP on several occasions to cover A380 downtime, the last being in mid-2014.
