Bombardier Aerospace (BBA, Montréal Trudeau) says it has signed a firm purchase agreement for five CRJ900s with a subsidiary of Chorus Aviation. The aircraft will be operated by Jazz Air (QK, Halifax) for Air Canada (AC, Montréal Trudeau) under the Air Canada Express banner. The order also includes purchase rights for an additional five CRJ-900 aircraft.

Additionally, with Bombardier's assistance, Jazz will reconfigure its current fleet of sixteen CRJ705 aircraft into CRJ-900 aircraft with seventy-six seats. Jazz will also reconfigure twenty-one Dash 8-400s currently in its fleet with an additional four seats to increase each aircraft's passenger capacity to seventy-eight.

Last week, the Canadian aircraft manufacturer disclosed that Trident Jet (Jersey) Ltd, a sister company of Falko Regional Aircraft Limited, is the previously unidentified customer that signed a firm purchase agreement for eight CRJ-900 aircraft and six options announced in October 2015.

The aircraft are assigned to and operated by CityJet (WX, Dublin International) on a wet lease basis – which means it provides aircraft and crews - on behalf of SAS Scandinavian Airlines (SK, Copenhagen Kastrup). Additionally, Bombardier announced that Trident Jet has now chosen to exercise four of its options also to be operated by CityJet.
