China Eastern Airlines (MU, Shanghai Hongqiao) has placed separate orders with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) and Boeing (BOE, Washington National) for twenty A350-900s and fifteen B787-9s respectively a filing with the Shanghai Stock Exchange has revealed.

Of the aircraft, the A350s are due for delivery between 2018 and 2022 while the B787s are due between 2018 and 2021.

The aircraft will be used to replace China Eastern's six B767-300(ER)s and twelve A330s.

China Eastern's widebody fleet includes thirty-three A330-200s, eighteen A330-300s, six B767-300(ER)s, and eleven B777-300(ER)s. The B767s are operated on China Eastern's behalf by sister carrier Shanghai Airlines (FM, Shanghai Hongqiao).
