Ryanair (FR, Dublin International) will return its domestic Polish operations hub from Warsaw Modlin to Warsaw Chopin with effect from October 30 of this year.

While Ryanair's 3x daily flights from the Polish capital to Gdansk and Wroclaw are to shift to Warsaw Chopin, Warsaw Modlin will still be used for regional European flights.

"Chopin Airport is a public service airport, which obliges us to handle all the carriers on an equal basis, subject to the availability of the so-called slots or the hours of take-offs and landings," Przemyslaw Przybylski, Chopin Airport spokesman, said. "The decision of Ryanair did not require any consultation with the Management of the airport and does not require signing of any contracts. We have made no efforts to gain these connections and we do not plan on their financing from the so-called 'marketing funds', which happens in the case of other smaller airports."

Ryanair operated regular flights from Warsaw Chopin between 2006 and 2009 and again briefly in 2013 during Warsaw Modlin's closure.
