Ordu Giresun Airport will see its maiden international flights next month the governor of Ordu province, İrfan Balkanlıoğlu, has announced.

Speaking at a news conference, Balkanlıoğlu said an undisclosed operator would next month launch passenger flights to the Turkish Black Sea airport from Germany, Austria, Saudi Arabia, and Northern Cyprus.

At present, Ordu-Giresun sees only domestic services with Pegasus Airlines (PC, Istanbul Sabiha Gökcen) serving Istanbul Sabiha Gökcen and Izmir Adnan Menderes, Turkish Airlines (TK, Istanbul Airport) serving Istanbul Atatürk and its low-cost carrier division AnadoluJet (Ankara Esenboga) serving Ankara and Istanbul Sabiha Gökcen through its SunExpress (XQ, Antalya) and BoraJet Airlines (Istanbul Sabiha Gökcen) partners.

Opened in May 2015, Ordu-Giresun Airport cost USD130 million to construct and features a 3,000m-long runway built on an artificial island.
