UK firm LoloFlights.com (Bournemouth) has abandoned plans to charter a B737-500 from Maltese operator AirX Charter (AX, Malta International) this summer.

The firm had planned to use the aircraft for flights from Bournemouth and Manchester International to Kerkyra, Kefallinia, Skiathos, Kalamata, Preveza/Lefkas, and Thessaloniki this summer.

However, CEO Paul Dendle told Travel Weekly news that owing to poor demand, the project had been dropped for now with refunds for more than 1,000 tickets currently underway.

Dendle blamed current market conditions given the recent Brussels terror attacks, China's economic downturn, and the upcoming Brexit referendum.

Plans are afoot to resurrect the peak-season operation in summer next year, albeit using a different charter carrier, Dendle added.
