Swiss (LX, Zurich) has converted five of its twenty A220-100 firm orders into larger A220-300s airline Chief Executive Officer, Thomas Kluhr, has announced. The Lufthansa (LH, Frankfurt International) subsidiary's original order with Bombardier Aerospace (BBA, Montréal Trudeau) was placed in 2009 and consisted of thirty CS100s.

Speaking to Reuters, Kluhr said this conversion now brings Swiss's total CSeries order backlog to fifteen CS300s and fifteen CS100s. The carrier has the option of upgrading five more CS100s with a decision due soon, he added.

Swiss will take delivery of its first, and the world's first, CS100 later this month. As previously reported, the type is due to make its commercial debut on July 15 with flights from Zurich to Paris CDG.

The larger CS300, on the other hand, is due to be delivered to launch operator airBaltic (BT, Riga) in September this year.
