The new airport on the Greek island of Paros will see additional passenger operations from August 4 when Olympic Air (OA, Athens) begins regular flights to Thessaloniki (in addition to its current public service obligation route from Athens).

The airfield, which will officially open to all traffic on July 25, features a 2,000m-long runway and a 750 square meter terminal building. It replaces an older facility which has become outdated.

Olympic currently operates four daily services from Athens to Paros using Dash 8-100s. The schedule will be adjusted to three daily Dash 8-400 services when the new airport opens that will allow operations with the larger turboprops in its fleet. The Thessaloniki service will operate twice weekly using Q400s as well but only seasonally until September 10.
